Message	Been in Edmonton forever... Some notes: 1) Z's I run our local Z Club. We have a bunch of dedicated members who help run our car show, cruises, AutoX and track days. We have a small road course track here with the promise of a larger one soon... I've brought up Greg & Seb for the last two years, and it looks like it's becoming an annual event. We do a fair amount of mechanical work here, we have a bunch of parts stockpiled. We have good relations with our southern Calgary Z neighbors (nod to ConverTT, 1990tt and others). 2) Winter Long and fucking Cold... dry, -30. Tons of snow. No chinooks or magical thaws. When winter descends in November (although it's looking iffy now...) we are done until about April or May, depending. I used to winter drive all my Z's, since I started working out of town, not anymore. Heated garage for winter projects a must have. We get enough nice cool evenings in spring and fall for boost goodness :) 3) Economy/Employment Currently we are the hot spot for employment in Canada... no provincial sales tax is a bonus. I work in an oilfield-related business, we have definitely been busy and demand is high. However, this can change, as it did in 2007. Major projects can be shut down and people laid off... seen it happen. The city is in the grow, there are lots of employers looking for people, labour & staffing shortages are predicted for next year... bad for employers, good for workers. Yes, if you're looking for oilfield/construction work, a pickup is your most practical choice. Other opportunities exist as well, we're not completely uncivilized up here.
